The Future of Soil - presented by Dag Falck + Stuart McMilliam
Dag has been actively involved in the organic movement and industry since 1989. Having grown up with the industry, he has been fortunate to be able to participate in activities involving such topics as organic standards and oversight, government relations, organic messaging, and organic farming. He worked 14 years as farm and process organic inspector. His career led him to work with Nature’s Path Foods as Organic Program Manager from 2003 till present. Dag has participated in numerous organic related NGO’s, committees, working groups, and government affiliations. These experiences have given him an opportunity to engage with, and be part of shaping the progress of the organic movement in North America. Dag’s aspiration is to help maintain the highest level of integrity in the organic marketplace, and to ensure that organic contributions to a healthier world are recognized and utilized to the fullest extent. Dag is a past President of the Board of Directors at Canada Organic Trade Association and the Board of IFOAM North America.
Stuart McMillan received a B.Sc. in Agroecology from the University of Manitoba and an M.Sc. focusing on organic agriculture from the Swedish Agricultural University. He is the Chair of the International Organic Inspectors Association and a full-time organic inspector working mostly in western North America. Stuart has 20 years of experience with organic production in six different countries. He and his family also run a small certified organic vegetable farm in central Manitoba.
